Due to the development of the information technology the transportation application of smart cards is spreading on international level steadily. The smart cards are a significant factor that facilitate the ease of using the services in a seamless manner, the ensuring of the seamless use of different services, the implementation of performance proportional fares, the replacement of cash payment, and the more efficient control of passengers, and through the collection of more accurate data it allows organizing the better utilization and more efficient operation of transportation capacities.

Network traffic modelling and GIS representation 

 

The traffic load map presented in GIS framework had been produced by the assignment of the public transport demand data (matrix) coming from the ‘Household survey of travel behaviours in Budapest and the surrounding settlements in 2004’ project of the Budapest Transport Limited (BKV), which was one of the User-group Meeting 2005 premium examples of ESRI Hungary. The network-assignment was done by the TRANSMAN/PTV-VISUM model and the map provided by ESRI ArcGIS software.
The traffic flow data calibrated by TRANSMAN Ltd. on the actualised Budapest public transport network model are suitable for the investigation of different development measure alternatives (with permission of BKV), supported by different calculated passenger data and operation indicators.

TRANSURS Traffic Modelling System

 

If you would like to know, how the traffic is changing 

because of different transport organisational measures (e.g. changing of the network and service of public transport, parking regulation and traffic calming, road-, bridge-closing, etc.), infrastructure development (e.g. completion of new road or bridge building, extension of public transport etc.) or financial measures (e.g. changing of transport fares, parking tariffs or launching accessing- or road tolls) 

and what kind of changes are induced by the measures

e.g.. in the field of transport time consumption, costs, revenues, energy consumption, air pollution, noise, accident risk, network connections and accessibility,

furthermore, how are these possible to evaluate.

Methods for Highway Network Development Planning in Hungary - With argumentation for EU Funding - Prepared to the CEMT Roundtable 26-27 February 2004, Paris 

 

To solve the different national highway development planning tasks TRANSMAN has developed over decades the TRANSWAY model and program system, which enables the forecast of transport demand flows and traffic loads in the network, further the calculation of changes in transport time, operation costs, accident losses, air pollution, noise, occupied land and the improved accessibilities between zones as well as the changes of location potentials. The efficiency evaluation and ranking of alternatives by cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and multi-criterial analysis (MCA), should demonstrate the social-economic viability of the projects and the national economy.

M3-M35 Highway Development Study

 

The M3-M35 highways should improve the connections to the regions Nyíregyháza and Debrecen in the east of Hungary and initiate a territorial development.

Rail Passenger Traffic Investigations

 

The Hungarian rail (MÁV) is implementing a new ticket (selling) system with O-D indication instead of the existing distance category tickets. Until this O-D-matrixes can be estimated by the ticket and pass selling statistics using a gravity type model.

MÁV Passenger Railway Services Study

 

The last few years have been a difficult time for MÁV. Set against a background of political transition and economic restructuring, passenger numbers and revenues have declined sharply. Whilst efforts have been made to reduce expenditure, levels of cost recovery have also declined and the railway, like many others world-wide, faces a growing financial challenge.
It is against this background that MÁV invited a team of consultants, led by Halcrow Transmark, to undertake a study of the MÁV passenger railway services.  This is the Final Report of Phase 1 of this study.
